4 Tips to Help You Drink More Water

Drink more water rather than soda, kool-aid and other sugary drinks! Sounds easy but some people find it hard to remember to drink water.

Here are 4 tips to help you remember to drink more water:

Carry a water bottle with you. It serves as a great reminder and if nothing else you will drink the water to make your load lighter! We have at least 5 Polar insulated water bottles (see below) between the two of us. I love my water cold!

Set an alarm. You can wear a watch that beeps hourly or set a reminder on your phone or computer. When it goes of drink a certain predesignated amount.

Drink a glass at meal time. At each meal drink a certain amount of water before any other beverage choice. My grandmother use to do this with orange juice at breakfast. Had to drink it to get your vitamin c. Same concept. Do it with water.

Got to use the restroom? This should serve as a good reminder! Drink a swig or two of water after each time you use the restroom.

A: They have no cholesterol. They are a good source of fiber and protein. They contain vitamins. And they have no artificial ingredients (when you get the whole natural)!

A: A 2 pound bag of Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds will cost you $9.97 at Walmart. Divide that cost by the 32 servings that are in the bag and that comes out to 32 cents a snack!

Q: But will one serving really feel me up?

A: Seeing how almonds have so much protein for most people it does. Just for fun say you eat 2 servings so now your snack is 64 cents. 64 cents is still cheaper than the vending machine snack or something off a dollar menu!

3 Easy Healthy Food Alternatives

Healthy food alternatives are easy to do. It comes down to more of habit and changing our taste buds. These 3 healthy food alternatives are great ways to start making healthier eating choices. They do not change the actual end product, but changes one part within the meal. Small simple changes over time end up making a huge difference!

Greek Yogart

Any recipe that calls for sour cream or mayo can be substituted with Greek yogurt. Try a few small cups of different brands to find one that you like the best. We love Chobani! Find a coupon for it here. At first I would only put it in things, but now I eat it for a snack by itself.

Herbs

Trade in your salt for herbs! Try things like garlic, onion powder, oregano, pepper, sage, cinnamon, etc. We use a lot of Mrs. Dash seasonings as she has already done all the work to figure out the perfect combinations and contains no salt.

Almond Butter

Swap your peanut butter for almond butter. People believe peanuts are nuts and assume they are pretty good for you. They are actually legumes. Almonds provide higher nutrition value than peanuts do. Now I love my peanut butter so I know this one might be hard, but give it a try! It is worth the change!

Thanksgiving Food Idea

Need a Thanksgiving food idea to bring to the family get together? Ditch the dessert or rolls. Bring something healthy! This turkey vegetable tray will surely turn heads and hopefully get some people to try some healthy food too!

You could also use radish or broccoli in place of the olives, tomatoes or cucumbers.

Sadly, I didn’t have a square platter so I had to use a cookie sheet. Found an awesome platter on Amazon for next time though!
